Trips and Visits

At Sageston CP School, we believe that trips and visits (including visits to the school by outside organisations, experts, family members and members of our local community with knowledge, skills and expertise relevant to our topics) can greatly enhance the learning experience for all of our pupils.

In creating a bespoke curriculum for our school as part of the Curriculum for Wales 2022, staff have identified key opportunities to engage in trip and visits and invite people with expertise and knowledge in relevant Areas of Learning and Experiences into the school.

Some of the visits we have engaged in over the past year, include:
  • Whole school trip to the Torch Theatre for annual pantomime.
  • Residential visit to the Urdd Centre in Llangrannog.
  • Carew Castle and Tidal Mill.
  • Carew River.
  • St David's Catherdral and Ty'r Pererin Education and Pilgrimage Centre.

  • Pwllcrochan Environmental and Community Centre.
  • Llanion Cove Outdoor Adventure Centre.
  • Coppet Hall Beach - World Coastal Rowing Championships.
  • Freshwater East Beach.
  • Tenby Harbour Beach.
  • Year 2 transition PE festival at Greenhill School.
  • Year 6 transition visits to Greenhil School
  • Swimming sessions for Years 1 to 6 at Tenby Leisure Centre.
  • Various sporting events - cricket tournaments at Carew Cricket Club and Cresselly Cricket Club, football tournaments at Greenhil School, netball tournament at Tenby Leisure Centre.
  • The Darwin Centre: beach study, river sampling and the Welston Challenge.
Some of the visitors/experiences we have had in school over the past year, include:
  • Size of Wales.
  • Police Liaison Officer to carry out the School Beat programme of study.
  • Fire Service to hold fire safety lessons.
  • Dark Sky Wales Planetarium.

  • Farmer and tractor.
  • Goats.
  • Chance to Shine cricket sessions with Cricket Wales coach.
  • First Experiences Music Sessions.
  • Members of the Women's Institute teaching Curling and Kazoo playing for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
  • Members of the Royal British Legion for Remembrance Service.
