Champion Cricketers

On Thursday 25th May, Sageston CP School's girls' cricket team were victorious in the Pembrokeshire Schools' Girls' Cricket tournament played at Carew Cricket Club.

In the glorious sunshine, the team achieved hard-fought victories against Saundersfoot and Stepaside to top their group and progress to the semi-finals in the afternoon.

During their semi-final against Lamphey, the girls showed determination and lots of quality to win the match by 68 runs to 48.  They were made to work very hard by the team from Lamphey who displayed some excellent bowling skills to limit the number of runs the Sageston girls were able to score.  However, some brilliant bowling and fielding from Sageston mean they progressed to the final.

In the final against St Oswald's, Sageston were set a target of 48 to chase which they were able to do, scoring 73 runs to be awarded the trophy which was sponsored by Valero.  Both teams displayed great quality throughout the match to ensure it was an exciting final.

Throughout the day, the girls from Sageston displayed superb levels of integrity, team spirit and fair play.  They were a real credit to our school and the whole school community is proud of their amazing achievement.
